You Are Not God: Learning to Acknowledge Him

Scripture:

“That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” – Philippians 3:10 (NKJV)

Beloved,

One of the greatest hindrances to knowing God is the subtle temptation to act as though we are God both in our own lives and in the lives of others. Sometimes, because we were instrumental in someone’s success or breakthrough, pride creeps in and we begin to see ourselves as the source, forgetting that we are only vessels in the hand of the Almighty.

Having access to privileged information or knowing people’s weaknesses and struggles is not a license to judge them, despise them, or conclude their case. You are not their God. Only the One who sees the end from the beginning has the right to define a man’s destiny.

It is foolishness to live or plan without acknowledging the Chief Planner and Executioner, The Almighty God. You do not even know if tomorrow is guaranteed, so why act as though you control your own life or the lives of others?

To know God is to acknowledge Him in every detail of life to depend on Him completely, to walk in humility, and to conform to His Word. The more you know Him, the more you realise your smallness compared to His greatness, and your weakness compared to His strength.

Paul, after all his spiritual encounters, still cried, “That I may know Him!” (Philippians 3:10). Knowing God keeps us humble, broken, and obedient. When we truly know Him, we will never boast in ourselves or in what we have done in the lives of others, but only in the Lord who works through us.

Key Lessons:

You are not the source of your life or anyone else’s, God is.

Pride makes you act as though you are God; humility keeps you dependent on Him.

Knowing God requires full conformity to His Word, His will, and His ways.

No matter how much God has used you, never forget you are just a vessel.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Forgive me for every time I have acted as though I am in control of my life or the lives of others.

Teach me humility, dependence, and total surrender to You. Lord, I want to know You more help me to decrease so that You may increase in me.

May my life reflect Your power, Your wisdom, and Your glory alone in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Action Step:

Examine your heart today. Are there areas of your life where you act independently of God? Are there people’s lives you are trying to control or judge?

Repent, release it to God, and ask for the grace to walk in humility and dependence on Him.
